Emotions vs. rationality – or emotions and rationality?

From the Enlightenment onwards, rationality has stood in contrast to emotions and while men have represented the former, women have been accused of only capable of the latter.

Therefore, Ewan Birney’s article in The Observer about scientists and their emotions makes for a different kind of read. Birney himself claims that he can be “very emotional about my science” and argues that it is a mistaken view that scientists are unemotional people.
