No improvement regarding FaceBook’s misogyny

free-facebook-signup

UK media has previously reported how FaceBook allows sexism and misogyny on their website. Now, Soraya Chemaly of the Guardian asks why FaceBook isn’t taking any more action, concluding that “The people left feeling comfortable at Facebook are rape apologists and those who create content glorifying the debasement of women.”

It could of course be that FaceBook is simply an extension of society as a whole, with the lax view of sexism and misogyny at FaceBook simply reflecting the similarly lax view on similar matters by society as a whole. Only a thought. Scary. But possible.
