How Google’s autocomplete may affect us

I have previously noted a piece by the BBC on how Twitter may shape our language. However, Twitter is not the only thing that may affect us.

As Tom Chatfield of the BBC reports, the autocomplete feature of Google may be affecting us, and not necessarily in a good way. The phrase “Women shouldn’t” lead Google’s autocomplete feature to suggest search phrases such as “Women shouldn’t vote”, “Women shouldn’t work” and “Women shouldn’t have rights”. According to Tom Chatfield, this could be corrupting our thoughts.
